Can Coaching Work for You?
1.
What is coaching?
A Coach:
Ø
Challenges me to set goals and reach those
goals.
Ø
Challenges me to achieve more than I will
on my own.
Ø
Focuses me to produce results of higher quality.
Ø
Provides the tools, support and structure
to accomplish my potential.
I stay focused and produce RESULTS faster because I have a
coach.
2.
What is the basic philosophy of
coaching?
Ø
A coach sees my potential more clearly than I
can, and is in a position to challenge me to
achieve that potential. Coaching focuses on
eliminating problems and on what is going to
make me the most successful.
Ø
I want to discover more about myself and do what
I need to do to improve. I can get that I want
faster and easier by having a coach. I have
tried to be my own coach, and often do not
achieve what I know I am capable of achieving.
Like many professionals, I know that the more
successful I am the more I need a coach to hold
me accountable to reaching my company’s ultimate
potential.
3. How is a Coach different from a
Mentor?
Ø
A mentor is interested in helping me informally
deal with life’s growing experiences at my own
pace. The mentor is often there to support and
nurtures me in pursuit of my career.
Ø
A coach sees my potential and will
challenge me to achieve more than I thought
possible. The coach will stay with me for as
long as I need to achieve my personal goals and
remain committed to continued excellence.
A coach is a developer, manager and consultant
for crucial aspects of my life.
4.
What will happen when I hire a coach?
Ø
I will take myself more seriously.
Ø
I will take more effective and focused actions
immediately.
Ø
I will stop putting up with what is dragging me
down.
Ø
I will create momentum so it is easier to get
results.
Ø
I will set better goals than without the coach.
In the end, I will realize that I did it myself!
I will be more confident, capable and competent in my personal
and business life.
5.
How can I use coaching in my organizations?
Ø
To remove my blind spots—making me aware of my
behavior so I can function more effectively with
my staff.
Ø
To resolve conflict—making those
involved aware of how their behaviors contribute
to the conflict, and then act to change those
behaviors to build effective teams.
Ø
To bring new discipline to
my analysis—look hard at the assumptions
underlying my decisions, ensures I take
responsibility for the priorities I set and
recognize the distortions caused by my biases.
Ø
To eliminate anything that blocks staff and me
from accurately seeing and solving the
organization’s problems.
Change happens in organizations because I change. I am more likely to make changes with
a coach than without a coach.
6.
Why does coaching work?
Ø
Synergy between the coach and me creates
momentum.
Ø
Better goals achieved—SMART goals naturally pull
me forward rather than requiring me to push
myself to the goal.
Ø
I develop permanent skills, which translates
directly into improved results.
The coach holds my feet to the fire of
accountability and I know I need that burning
brightly in your life.
7.
I am
already doing great in my life—why would I need
a coach?
Ø
Everyone needs someone to ask - How do you
see yourself? Do you know how others see you?
Why are you doing that? How do you actually get
things done around here? Do you know if you do
that- what consequences, it will have? Do you
know the top three things you need to address to
achieve your goals? Who will tell you - you are
under achieving?
The higher you rise in your profession and the
more successful you are, the more likely it is
no one around you will ask you these questions.
You can achieve much more in less time.
8.
Can I hire a coach
just for a short-term, special project?
Ø
Many clients hire us to help them accomplish
specific goals or projects. We stay through
implementation and constantly reinforce the
learning process.
A coach is objective and sees the big picture,
and for this reason is particularly valuable to
the project’s success. Lessons learned are
applicable to all areas of your life.
